RE: 29 - Team "Antler Addicts" Official Thread
Thanks DNK and Ohbowguy. Yesterday was a lousy opener, horrible rain and the DEP decided to cut brush with heavy equipment about 300 yards from my stand... Today was much better weather wise. Did the afternoon watch, and had 2 groups of does coming from different directions. One group of 5 and another of 2. I took a shot at the lead doe of the smaller group, but unfortunately it was a bad hit. It was a bit high and farback, I think... She jumped up in the air and wheeled around and dropped in her tracks. I thought I spined her, and after a few minutes, I checked my cell phone cuz it was buzzing earlier while I was watching the deer. I figured my buddy might need help dragging or something, but it wasnt him. To my surprise, the doe I shot who dropped just on the other side of a stone wall got up and ran! She took off onto another property and ran along the edge of a corn field. About an hour after the shot, my buddy and I tracked her for a good distance with a lantern. We saw her eyes lit up in the distance, but she was bedded down and we didnt want to push her. We're going to head back in the morning to see if she's still there. Hopefully she'll expire and not get pushed by Coyotes. Wish me luck.
