RE: First Wolf Picture...
One possible reason to like wolves: They seem to drive out coyotes. Not sure that wolves are big improvement over coyotes, but looking for a silver lining here.
Short wolf story: A neighbor of mine when I was growing up, a police officer who I knew from the local Police Boys Club where I worked out, had a timber wolf he raised from a pup. Very cool animal. He kept it chained up and played with it a lot. It was very friendly. A friend and I were playing with it (with his permission) while he was away. Well, we were throwing this ball, and he would catch it or trap it or chase it, just like a dog. Once it got past him, and he chased it at a full run. Snapped the chain without breaking his stride. He realized he was free and started running off through the woods. My friend and I had to chase him down through the woods. He ended up coming back home on his own and we tied him up with rope. He thought we were trying to wrestle with him like his owner did (powerful guy…benched 375 lbs using Olympic weights) and kept trying to knaw at our wrists (playing, but it was scary to us, being 13 years old and not that familiar with the wolf). He was a little over a year old then and was about 120 lbs. Nice animal, really. Not aggressive towards people, or even other dogs, really.
