Default RE: Big Gun

I think I sense a bit of sarcasm here...Gotta love the satire.

Anyways, as I was reading this, I was troubled by some contradictions at chuckhawks.com.

In this satirical 825 magnum article he implies that traditional handgun cartridges (357, 44mag) are adequate for hunting big game like elk and moose. But in his Optimal big game range table, he has them listed as inadequate for big game. A further look shows that he has the 7mm rem mag listed as adequate for moose only inside of 10 yds! Throughout the rest of his site he always seems to imply that standard 308 and 30-06 based cartridges are more than adequate for big game and that magnum cartridges only give you more recoil and muzzle blast, not more "killing power". So, which is it? Are standard non-magnum cartridges adequate for big game hunting or not? His optimal big game range table suggests not, while the rest of his site has a generally anti-magnum tone suggesting that standard cartridges are more than adequate. He seems to be sending mixed messages.

Am I reading it wrong?
