RE: woohoo broadhead xmas!
My sonics were plenty sharp, but I'm kind of doubting being able to use them on Illinois deer after seeing a review a guy did on AT by shooting through a phone book... Bent the tips up pretty badly. I've been giving this a little thought over the last couple days, and I think they'd be fine blasting through soft tissue and lungs, possibly even ribs. I would NOT want to be shooting a Sonic in the event I squared a shoulder accidentally. I'd put a trocar-style chisel tip or something similar up against JUST blades when it comes time to bust through bone any day.
Also, I had to chuckle at the little press release which came with the heads... Obviously, they know people are going to look at it and instantly think how small the head is, so they go ahead and call attention to it. Then the writer says to remember that it's twice as big as a .50 caliber machine-gun bullet!
Upon reading that, I was like "Wow! Ya know, that's pretty awesome!"... Then my brain kicked in and I realized that bullets do their damage through sheer massive trauma; broadheads have to(or at the least should) rely on severing arteries and slicing through organs, causing loss of blood.
I'm not intending to slam the head, but these are just some observations and thoughts I've had after receiving mine.
