woohoo broadhead xmas!
today i stopped at Dick's sporting goods on the way home from work to see if they still have any Summit Viper SS left..im going to buy me one tomarrow. had to get the check in the bank first..while there i seen broadheads on sale. i looked to see what they were and they were Rocky Mountain heads. i never heard anything bad about them. 50% off figured couldnt hurt to see how they shoot..if nothing else ill use them to beat up shooting small game or turkeys or yotes etc. i picked up a packof 100gr 3 blade Assassin mechanicals. they are the kind with the O-rings with 1 1/2 inch blades. figured they would be the ticket on turkeys if they shoot well...also bought a pack of rocky mountain "premiers" they are a chisel tip 3 blade head with a 1 3/16 inch cut. anyone ever use either head?? results?? any info?? both seem like good heads..and both are shaper than Muzzys. figured for half price i couldnt pass them up..normally sell for 25$ for a 3pack. i got them for 12.50 a 3pack.
also in the mail came my free Sonic. man that was quick..2 weeks i think. i was surprised to even get it..let alone that quick!! they arent really sharp..kinda dissappointed..but maybe they are "practice" heads..they cut paper but wouldnt shave. their design is pretty dang slick. although 2 7/8ths of an inch holes will be devistating the look kinda dinky...but put through the lungs of a deer i think itll put them down in a hurry.
i also already have 6 100gr 3blade muzzys...so id say im set in the broadhead department.
i dont know if ill shoot them today or not. i got about 5hrs of sleep in the last 2 days..i know i wont shoot upto par today. but maybe ill take a power nap and get out in the yard before dark..we will see. im not going to put them through a "5 shot" test...but will see how accurate they all shoot. i dont think ill use the mechanicals on deer. im only shooting 260fps and about 60lbs of KE..but think i will keep 1 in the quiver for turkeys if they shoot well and open for me.
