Deer meat gone bad?
I haven't made any jerky in awhile so today I pulled out two of the last four packages of burger from last year. After I thawed it out I noticed it was an ugly brown color (except for the very middle), and had an unpleasant odor to it. These were wrapped in a 1lb "tube", like sausage comes in. Was this freezer burn or what? I ended up throwing it out but I thought it should have still been good. There was no blood in the freezer so I don't think it was thawed at some point. I guess I'll have to use beef for the next month or so...[:@]
