I shoot a Rem. 700 and have for years. My experience is the gun is very good. I have wood stalks and synthetic. Both hold a sights well. I have had the same problem in the past. It was with the scope. I replaced the scope, problem solved. The objectives started to move inside the scope. The faulty scope was a leopold, I replaced it with a simmons eight point. I have had no problems with that gun since. It has been over three years now.
