Usually with a new gun there is instructions telling what choke to use for which game. I f you didn't receieve one usually the modified works about like a full on steel shot and most do not recommend using the full choke for steel. You should take it out and pattern it with various sized shot on the range. If no range is available find a place where you can shoot at some cardboard or something to get a good idea of how it is patterning.
