Hog Hunting was Great! It was a relaxing & fun weekend, and a good way to get ready for deer season, which is just around the corner. Casi took the Smokepole out and shot one the first night. I was able to get it all on film with my PD-170.
Then it was my turn with my bow, and Casi was behind the camera. We set up in a double ladder stand, but didn't have anything come in, in the morning. So in the mid-day we went out, to attempt to spot and stalk. After walking a couple miles, I spotted a couple boars. Slowly we stalked up to within 20 yards. I had the (constantly moving) 200 lb boar broadside, but Casi didn't have a clear view with the camera. Then he go a wiff of wind from us and was gone.
In the evening, I decided to hunt in the same ladder stand as in the morning. We ended up seeing a couple small boars, but wasn't presented a very good shot, and elected to pass.
In the morning it was raining. We decided not to bring the camera out, and I move to a different location, hunting by myself. At just a little after 7, a lonely boar came walking down the trail at 12 yards, and stopping for a perfect broadside shot. He traveled 50 yards and crashed.
So it was great weekend, and we have a freezer full of pork.
