Sounds like you already have it figured out pretty well.
I prefer the climber because of the convenience. You just strap it on the tree and climb.
No extra sticks to have to carry around.
But your point about not having a suitable tree for a climber is a valid one and a good reason for having the sticks.
"Versatility" as you say.
Have you thought about getting a climber/sticks combination ?
The climber, of course, would weigh more than a fixed stand with sticks.
But the Lone Wolf climber is still pretty light and you could then use it for trees you couldn't normally climb by using the sticks with it.
Your choice also depends on if you hunt one property or several.
If you hunt one propety, you should already know if there are trees on it suitable for a climber in the areas you hunt.
But if you hunt several different farms or new areas you might prefer the fixed stand with sticks so you won't get caught with nothing suitable to climb.
