RE: 243 on elk
This has gone about like I expected it to. Some say its ok, and some don't think it is a good idea. When it comes to chooseing a calbier to hunt with, bigger is not always better. You can shoot a big caliber, make a bad shot and would still either wound or loose game. Being accurate enough to make good shots is what matters.It is also important to have enough gun to do the task at hand. I'm not convinced the 243 is enough for clean ethical kills on elk.If I do get to go next year, which I hope I do! I will not be takeing my 243 along.
