Default Crud ring experiment results

Well I made it out to the range yesterday and had some mixed results.

The good thing was, my son started out a little shaky but got better as the day went. By the time we had to leave he had shot a 4 shot group right at 1" at 50 yards using 90gr of Pyro P and a 250 SW. Should be a good enough load for cow elk. I plan on working on his shooting further out to 100 or so and hope he can get that kind of groups out there before the hunt. I think it's starting to click with him and his shooting skills.

Due to the fact that I was working with him most of the time I did not get as much chance to try out the new breach plug. I had shot maybe 10 rounds with the old BP to verify that no crud ring was going on in the gun. I then switched the plugs and tried 1 shot at 100gr of 777 and a 300gr SST. I swabbed after it and, no crud ring. I still want to do some more testing but I ran out of time yesterday. Will see what happens next outing.

I also didn't get to shoot my new GPR much but it looks like it's going to be a shooter. With a .015 patch it seems to like 85gr of P. Will try an .018 Patch next time and see if it likes that any better.
