ipsc said it all. I hunted with the 300 Win Mag for several years then went back to the 308. Lots more enjoyable to shoot and I have yet to run into a situation where the 308 lacked anything that I needed it to do. Now I don't even use the 308 much as its more than I need for deer. If I go for Moose this fall then the 308 or 6.5 will do the job.
