Nope, central Texas desert. It was probably 95 degrees or more. If we had to wait for cold weather, it might be ten years from now before we could shoot any rabbits. It was 80 degrees last December during deer season...
Question about the worms, though... I was told that the worms would be dark in color and probably found under the skin around the neck. Or white ones in little sack-like bubbles. I didn't find either while dressing them. The meat all looks good and clean,so I assume they are OK and plan to fry them until they are well-done. Will they be safe, or should I toss them?
Our rancher considers rabbits pests, as he's had cattle step in their holes, break legs and die, so he wants us to shoot 'em if we see 'em...
