I've read that once they are weaned (~3 months?), they are capable of surviving on their own. My rule of thumb is "no spots" (in part, because the wife can handle it better, lol). From the look of the pic, I would guess that that fawn willhave no problem come 27 Sept. Note that some hold the belief that the (buck) fawn has a better chance of survival if the doe is taken - he is more likely to remain in his natal area rather than dispersing.
