I'm the same way! I'm terrified of snakes and when makes the mistake of crossing my path, I kill it(right after I clean out my shorts). As a teenager, I stumbled accross a whole nest of rattlers under some junk I was cleaning up in our pasture. My feet never touched the grass getting back to the truck! I was shaking so bad I couldn't even load my gun!

BTW, not all rattlers give you a warning! We were used to the ones in North Central KS, and western NE that give you plenty of warning. We moved to SE Kansas and found out that they didn't buzz around there. You could walk right next to them and not know they were there until you got tagged.
