I've read a few responses that mention respect, thats what it takes to be a good hunter. Respect for the land, the animal, yourself, other hunters, the land owners, basically everything, out there in the woods its real life, not a video game and nature (of which we are a part) is to be respected.
Your friend may not have bad intentions but it sounds like he needs to learn that hunting is serious business and the way to earn respect is to give it.

Disclaimer: I have never shot at a deer with a bow, I'm using my x-bow untill I'm good enough with my compound to be ethical.
