RE: Encore vs. Omega.....which one is better???
It looks like I'm the only one here so far that has both guns...the Encore and the Omega. They are both top shelf rifles and you can not go wrong with either one!
From my experiance, if you want to shoot heavy loads then Encore would be my preferance. I can handle the heavier charges easier with the Encore, because of the stock....it feels like a thumhole stock.
Now the Omega has shot tighter groups than the Encore but they both are fully capable of 200yd kills when you know the yardage and have a good solid rest.
My best load for both guns is 150 grs. of Pyrodex Pellets or Triple 7 and the Remington 289gr. Solid Copper Bullet. These Remington Solid Copper Bullets are a little hard to come by, but they've beat'n out the MZ's in all my rifles/pistols for accuracy. And I've put down a lot of deer with these so far.
I also have the .45 Omega. I haven't found a load that I can shoot 150gr. charges where I'm happy with the accuracy. I want 2" or less at 100yds. My son will be using this next week for the Illinois Muzzleloader season. He'll be shooting 100grs. of Pyrodex Pellets and the 275gr. Power Belt. The 195gr. MZ is not legal in Ill for deer, but it is the most accurate bullet so far for this rifle.
I wrote to T.C. last week to see if they had a thumbhole stock coming out for the Omega. I was disappointed to here that they are not working on one. I sent Fox Ridge an e-mail right after that and I haven't had a responce from them yet on the thumbhole stock.
Keep it in the 10x
