Typically, the .45cal bullets tend to give more accurate results. I think this is partially due to weight distribution & ogive length & shape, and partially to the construction of the sabot itself. The .44 version of sabot has a little more plastic to give (induce slop) as the projectile travels down the barrel. The extra plastic can also account for the ease of loading the .44s. The .45 sabot is trapped more firmly between the bullet & rifling and has less of a chance to pick up any secondary wobble.
