Rick, you are right that in MD you can ask for a road kill tag but that does not mean that you will get one. It all depends on the DNR officer. Some don't want to be bothered with the paperwork and some want to keep the racks for themselves. I learned that while talking to a DNR officer myself.

Also an FYI, you need a tag for any and every thing in your house related to wildlife. Mounts, hides, sheds, etc... DNR can come in and if you have some sheds without a tag, they can take them. Mounts or hides and they take them and slap you with a healthy fine.
