My first 30 or so deer were pretty much all pass-throughs as well; then one day, I didn't hit as far back as I would have liked and squarely smacked a shoulder blade. I would have liked to have had a heavier arrow that day.
Yep! Another thing to consider is that a light arrow will deflect off small twigs to a greater degree. I want every advantage I can get, once that arrow is unleashed. I found out some time ago that speed didn't give me any advantage, that heavy arrows with very heavy tips gave me very stable arrow flight, with much greater penetration.
