Yikes! You can get a FN SPR for that kind of money, a far better rifle.
For a higher end rifle, I'd get a remington if only because the action is a lot smoother than the clunky Savage. For a budget rifle, I'd be willing to overlook the imperfect Savage action, but if it were my money buying more than a budget rifle, I'd go with a Remington.
