Im actually planning on public land for opening day. If people beat me to the areas I want to hunt, I am lucky thatI have a small private spot to fall back on. Last year I bagged the public plan because I thought it would be crowded. NO ONE HUNTED that morning. Yeah it was a Thursday and yeah it was warm, but I guess it wasnt worth a morning off for some. Now Saturday, the sign in board was full. So I'll get up a little earlier and see if I can beat other hunters. If not, i'll bounce to the small lease. Saturday and labor day, i'll plan on the private. It'll be too crowded on the public those days.

Ron, I was in my usual public area last weekend and there was tons of sign in there. But there always is this time of year. We'll see what happens once the pressure kicks in. By the way, I have a new truck now. Had to retire the GMC and have a 06 dark green Silverado. If you see it in the parking area, swing by around 930am or half past dark depending on the time of day. I would love to get the inside scoop on all the public hot spots. Also, I think I know the old guy you are talking about who hunts across the street. Nice guy but I have some issues with him. Also, my dad and I got the ladder stand up at the lease today. It was hot as balls out there. Tons of sign as usual but it always dies down once the hunting starts. Trail cam was up all week by my old wooden stand. Camera went off only once. I moved it to a place I'm planning a ground blind for dad opening day. Hopefully we'll see more movement in that area.
