RE: DEER CAM's on sale
I finally found one too at the St. Charles, IL Wal-Mart and bought it for $59.00 (formerly $98.73 - price changed on 7/25/06).
This is the Moultrie Game Watcher 100 (not Game Spy) 1.3MP Digital MFH-DGW-100.
The Wat the end of the part number = Wal-Mart and this camera has a laser aiming device. This is a Wal-Mart EXCLUSIVE. Icalled Moultrie and confirmed.
The model on the Moultrie website =MFH-DGS-100 does not have the laser aiming device, however the cameras are the same otherwise.
This model uses a 6V battery which they say lasts at least 3 weeks.
It will last longer if you do not use the flash.
How much longer? (I called) and they could not really provide an answer.
[This model is not set up for the soalr panel option.]
However, the lady there was very helpful and straightforward.
She told me several times that I should not expect many pictures with the heat wave that was going across the country - since the camera is IR and detects the animals heat.
I also purchased (today) the Moultrie 6V rechargeable battery and battery recharger kit on Ebay Express (never knewthis siteexisted until yesterday) for $29.80 (including shipping, handling and insurance).
Moultrie Direct - charges $15 a piece + the shipping charges are very high.
I bought an Energizer regular battery so I could play with it, I mean test it - until the rechargeable gets delivered.
I was fortunate enough to get (2) 256MB SD cards and a USB-In to USB Out cable for FREEvia work relationships. I still need to buy a SD card reader, since I do not want to remove the camera to see the pictures, I only want to remove the card.
Seems like this $59 camera is getting closer to $100 and closer to $150 if I didn't get some of the stuff for FREE.
Now I just need to find time to drive 250 miles to go set this baby up.
Hope some of this long-winded info helps.
