The last 2 bucks I took, a 6 and a 7 point, was without using a thing, but my instincts and a little prep work, off season tracking.
Some say its the only way to go.
Most of the time I just use a little Red Fox Pee at the base of the tree I'm using for my climber, and on a drag rag.
