just for fun i took my encore to the range to do some experimenting
what i found is that it likes the shock waves 300grthe best.
after getting a good grope at 100yd's i tryed for the 200yd target.
the 200yd target is a 8 inch squarepiece of flat steel which hangs on a chain so theres no doubt when ya hit the thing .zeroed a 100yd's i found that i had to aim 16 inches high to hit it. but what amazed me the most was that i took 3 shots at it and hit it 3 times.ya got ta love that.
Just a guess here but I'll bet you were using two pellets of Pyro or 777 with the older, tighter-fittingShockwaveplastic sabots.
Try the same powder load with a Harvester or MMP-3P plastic sabotwith a sub-base attached. That may get you down to around 12" low.
The 300 gr. sabot is the ultimum grain size for 1-28" twists.... in my opinion. That twist is so forgiving that any sabot from 180-400 gr. will generally produce nice hunting groups with the right powder/bore diameter combo... once in a while needing a fiber wad or sub-base for tweaking.
