Default Rocket Steelhead 125 test results OUTSTANDING!!!!!

Rocket steelhead 125 grain 3 blade
Plywood 5 points
Steel drum 6 points
Orange 3 points
Cutting diameter 4 points
Accuracy 5 points
Blades 3 points
Total score: 26 with a blade sharpness rating of C

The rocket steelhead, is a 3 blade, swing open type mechanical broadhead. It has a cutting diameter of 1 ¼”. The accuracy is excellent grouping and shooting just like a field point. In the plywood test the head busted through without any problems. In the steel drum the head penetrated both sides, with only minor bending of the blades, this is very impressive and only the second time any broadhead has completely penetrated both sides and still had all it’s blades intact. In the orange test the head had fully opened by the time it exited the back.
I was very impressed with the 125grain steel head. It is very accurate, durable, and penetrates as well or better than any head I have tested. To be fair though I think I need to explain why the steel head did so well in the steel drum test. The entrance hole was only the size of the head with the blades closed, indicating that it had not opened by the time it got through the first side, on the other hand the back wall showed the head was completely open when it penetrated through it. I believe that this is the reason why the steelhead was able to get through both walls of the steel drum with only minor bending of the blades. When I get some more blades I will shoot the head with the blades open to see if it gets through both sides. This fact does not change my opinion of the Steelhead 125. It is an outstanding mechanical head. It penetrates as well as any broadhead, fixed or mechanical, and is also very accurate and durable. I don’t know why it preformed so much better than the 100grain version. It is possible Rocket has beefed up the heat treating of there blades, or has done something else to make them stronger, I don’t know? What I do know is that the Rocket steelhead is now the top mechanical broadhead in my tests, and actually out scores every broadhead but one, fixed or mechanical! I don’t think it is any better than a Muzzy, Thunderhead, or Magnus, but it is at least as good. I know when I want a mechanical broadhead for those very windy days or situations I feel they are needed, the Steelhead 125 grain 3 blade will get the nod. My only complaint, is as it always is with Rocket mechanicals, the blade sharpness. The blades will not shave hair from the package. If you want a mechanical head, but are worried about their performance, the Rocket steelhead 125 is one to really take a hard look at. I feel it will do anything you need a broadhead to do. I would personally feel comfortable using this head on elk, something I can’t say about any other mechanical head.
