For a rookie such as yourself I would suggest a Darton Marauder.
It has a draw weight up to 70lb. and draw length of 26 to 30" its only 32 in. axle to axle with a brace height of 7 5/8 ".
This bow only weighs 4lbs and 1oz. with a 80% let off, check out their web site at www.dartonarchery.com or visit your local pro shop.
By the way they have package deal, comes with a tru glo fiber optic sight, a whisker bisquet rest and matching camo bow quiver for around or a little over $ 500.00 dollars.
