I got a friend who said I could take his 300win mag rem700 BDL stainless/syn on a try before I buy type deal. So I forked out 30 dollars on winchester accubonds. I don't have any 300win mag brass or dies anymore. The history of the rifle, is it hasn't been shot in a few years and had TBBC's shot thru it last and the residue and copper was not cleaned out. So kinda concerned about pitting. I might take to the gunsmith to borescope. But after well over 1 hour cleaning out copper, I mounted a trusted leupold 4.5-14 VariX III and went shooting. But didn't take the time to lap the rings, but did align them with alignment rods. Barrel is still pressure bedded with the cheap stock on em.

But results were puzzling. Started off shooting very pretty good. I boresighted and shot at 25 yards, made adjustments and then 1 shot at 100 yards. 2" high and 2" to the left. I adjusted one more time, let the gun cool and shot one more shot, bullseye. Shot another group and had 4 shots 1.1" group at 100 yards. Not bad I figure.

All thru the day, I shot and had two distint groups. I didn't touch the scope. One was 3" to the left and one was right on target. Both beingdecent groups.

I start questioning things. Retorgued the front action screw to 45 in-lbs.

It was strange groupings. I wonder it needs bedded? Usually with a BDL systhetic, first thing I do is glass bed and remove the pressure point and lap the rings. I just wonder if it has potential and I can invest in decent stock and bed properly and problems go away.

I checked the scope for parallax, and there is none. As this scope, I can adjust it out with AO.
