RE: ? about rifles& why I like bows
For me, where I hunt, Rifle hunting is the way to put meat on the table.Only one year that I didgo hunting with rifle, that I didnt bring anything back. And that's because I chose not to. With my .308 anything I can see broadside inside of 300yds(which is entirelypossible, even probablein Central Texas)I know will go down when I pull that trigger. Hunting with a rifle can be frustrating at times when that brute you've always dreamed of is standing broadsideat 100-200 yds, but you can't shoot because of the tree or bush blocking his shoulder... but otherwise, it's fairly easy to put meat on the table. Maybe not horns on the wall, but at least meat on the table.
Flip side of the coin, I have never killed a deer with a bow despite many years trying. Or a hog for that matter. Bowhunting for me is fun. I've never been pressured to kill with the bow, because I know that come Rifle season there will be meat on the table. It's just always something I did for the fun of it. Like someone else said, one more excuse to be in a stand.
I know there are challenges to both types of hunting, but I know which is harder, and the proof is in the freezer.
