doug, in areas in 2g i see that has growth, reason is some of trees are letting in sunlight do to not being very big or are losing leaves do to their health.or other reasons.where you have the real big maples, ferns grow.remember i told you about we are getting about 2 extra months of growing do to our warmer winters.that alone is helping things grow.then throw in all rain we are having, its like jungle in some places.its not from lack of deer.i have apple trees that have leaves on until middle dec and blooms in last week of march. thats not normal but has been that way for last 5 years. i have apples that will be ready to pick on my land in kettle creek in aug. usually its oct.oaks let in more sunlight than maples.so,areas you are seeing growth, it could be you are in area without too many maples.but that extra 2 months growing ,1 after leaves fall is what is causing growth.rain too.
