A couple of years ago I did a "do-it-yourself" bow hunt for elk out of the Sun Valley area in Idaho. All public ground, didn't need a guide. I saw elk most mornings but never had a chance on the type of bull I was looking for. Could have shot a cow but elected not to. The terrain is very steep. When I wanted to sit down I just leaned back. Seriously though, it is rough unforgiving country, that is breath takingly beautiful.
