Default RE: Ground Hunter needs some help

Lilhunter is right 'you dont need no stinkin carbon suit or treestand.'

I have taken most of my deer with a bow from the ground. You must be scent free I use the green soap by hunters specialties. And I spray my gear and clothes with scentkiller. Around here we have nothing but hills and valleys, the wind swirls and you can watch a surveyors tape and see that the wind usually changes directions every minute or so. I try to hunt the prevailing wind for that day but it is impossible sometimes. I agree with Taz once deer start coming in if you have a big tree to hide behind and peek at the deer they cant see you. Sometimes I sit on a little stool and sometimes I sit on the ground. Practice shooting from one knee. Deer can spot a human shape if you are standing up very fast.

In your case bigdog maybe the deer have patterned you. Dont hunt the same stand all the time. But a couple weeks like you said should be enough time.

Wear rubber boots like LaCrosse burly's nothing can lay down a human scent trail like leather boots. When deer are coming in keep your mouth closed. This may be the biggest stinker coming from hunters.

When you pick your ground spot go to where you think the deer might be in several places and look back at your spot. You have to have something in the background to break up your outline even if you are sitting. A big tree or laurel bush is a good thing to have behind you.

Good luck
