I had a quite a few but the one that comes to mind is back in the
mid seventies when I was brook fishing. Back then the moose was
a hard animal to see here and myself being a teenager and learning
what was and what wasn't. I was walking through a bog when a baby
moose stood up. And not having seen one before thought I was looking
at a baby horse some one lost. So I tried calling it and on my other
side another baby moose stood up. I was completely amazed at what
was going on until I heard a big crashing sound coming through the bog.
I looked and here coming through the bog was big momma! I only had a fishing pole so I looked for the thickest part of the woods I could find
and went running. I guess she just wanted me away form her little ones
as she never mowed me down. And I was too scared to look back to know
for sure what happened next. But, I did learn a valuable lesson to beware
of my surroundings at all times.
