Good Spot or Not? Need Help
I have a real dilema. My stand is an good spot. In the morning I usually see anywhere from 2-5 Deer within shooting range and a few others that aren't. I have had a 8 point and a 10 point just out of range a few days so far. The problem I have is my stand is only 200 yards from nieghboring property and in the late morning& afternoon their dog always wonders into the woods. The property owner of the land I hunt on has reminded the dog owner that hunting season is here and it isn't safe for the dog to be in the woods. This dog has ruined a few evenings of hunting for me. The owner has called him back a few times to salvage the last hour or two before dark. I haven't scouted other sections of the property, but would like to be able to peacefully enjoy a late afternoon/evening without CUJO.
As far as the land there are no food plots on either side of the forest. The deer are coming down from top of the big hill because that is where most of the acorns are this year.Late spring frost hindered acorns on top of big hill. Small creek winds through the property.
Do I use my spot in the morning then maybe midday ground hunt or use a climber further way from the canine. Or do I just sit tight? The dog is in the woods during the week do the deer adjust to him as being another creature in the woods and blow him off or doe she present the obvious red flag that I think this is.
Any insight here would be helpful.
