Default RE: whitetail deer rifle

7600Rem

I've been reading up on the 7600 on various forums and found many similar reports on the accuracy of these rifles. Last year I switched from a BAR 30-06 to a REM Mtn LSS in 7mm-08. I really like the performance and shootability of the 7mm-08. I'm definitely going to keep my LSS but would love to have a 7600 in 7mm-08 as well.

Grice hasthe in 7mm-08 but their current version is with a Maple stock & forearm....which is, in my eyes, very ugly (and that's being kind). I found a listing of Grices previous special runs andatdifferent times theyoffered the 7mm-08 in walnut and a couple of different laminated versions. I'd surelike to have one in a laminated stock.

On the other hand, they are currently offering a 7600 walnut in .35 Whelen! I just don't know that I need that much "thump" (& related recoil) here in NW Arkansas where whitetails, black bear and hogs are about it as far as big game is concerned. It just seems like a bit of over-kill for whitetails and who knows if I will ever get to go on a out of state Elk hunt. It would however give me a fairly well rounded out two gun battery - 7mm-08 & .35 Whelen.

Decisions, Decisions!
