I hate the wind for bowfishing too.
Can't hit what you can't see.
I have the same spin-off problem with my stingray points. I'm having good luck with them on the soft fish like buffalo because the barbs are so flat and wide.
I use them when wading and minimize the pull off potential by walking up to the fish as I reel instead of fighting him back to me. When I get there, I grab the arrow and jam it into the bottom so the point is no longer a factor. Then I just sling my recurve over my shoulder and grab the arrow's shaft with one hand on each sideof the fish until I get him on the stringer or to shore.
