Cream of Wheat is used as a buffer (like a wad) and it does very well I'm told. Has the added quality of cleaning the bore of any leading. I've tried cornmeal as a buffer and it works well also but is a little on the messy side.
Underclock, I am referring to the revolver cylinders when using Cream of Wheat.
1.Youdrop the powder in
2.You use a small dowel to set the wad on the powder
3.You drop in the predetermined amount of Cream of Wheat that will keep the bullet flush with the end of the cylinder hole. This will keep the bullet fromhaving to jump into the barrel and willimprove accuracy considerately.
Theshootersin the USMuzzle LoadingTeam at the World Competitions do this.
I use my Rem Army .44 as a side arm during the BP season.
I load my two cylinders on the bench at home before I go to the woods in theMuzzle Loading season.
