My big thing is that I want a larger than 30 cal. mag rifle. I have never been a big fan of belted magnum cases and don't really see a need for me to have a magnum 30 cal. and under. I'd just get a 30-06 but my 270 will do everything that I would want the 06 to do. If I can't get within 300 yards or less then I wouldn't take the shot anyway under hunting conditions. I would buy the 8mmWSM but I would still be afraid that the rest of the public wouldn't and it's fate would be the same as the 8mm mag and then there goes factory ammo. Also the .338 bullets are more readily and widely available than the 8mm. I just don't thing it would get a good enough following.
