So how should one prepare if they plan on doing a 3D shoot? What is allowed, not allowed, what are the average maximum distances, etc? I don't know a thing about these.
What happens if you are the best archer that day?
Typically (and rules can be different everywhere) you would want to start in the hunter class. In my area and in the IBO hunter class means you have to have at least 4" vanes on your arrows, screw in points, fixed pins, no lense, and a stabilizer no longer than 12 inches. Targets will be approximately 35 yards and closer however they do put out the occasional 36-38 yard target around here to mess you up. We usually shoot 30 or 40 targets.
If you want to go, just go with having fun in mind and get a good group of buddies together. It is a lot of fun, and can be quite addicting.
Typically in my area, winners will bring home either a small trophy or $$$.
