Bill, ask any squirrel hunter who uses a .22 rimfire and they'll tell you that sun-sonic cartridges are best because they don't scare the squirrels away as much as high velocity rounds. I prefer the Remington's Subsonics because their high velocity Hornets and Cyclone types scare the game.

Most centerfire deer rifles have the same affect on squirrels as well as deer - the sonic boom easily gets a reaction due to the high frequency noise.
