Hi Guys,

Bore butter or lube? Is there a difference or are there terms interchanged? What is the standard lube to use in MLs?

thanks,
phil
"Bore Butter" is lube...a natural, non-petroleum based lube which is preferred when shooting black powder (or BP subs).

The term "Bore Butter"springs from the butter like consistency of the lubeand it's use in the bore as a lube...hence the slang term "bore butter".

The term "Bore Butter" isalso a generic term.....like the word "Bread".....but there is white bread, wheat bread, rye bread, etc.

It was originally developed & made my Oxyoke and marketed under their label ofWonder Lube 1000...then through contract to other BP suppliers like TC who called it Natural Lube 1000...Traditions called theirs something else, as did CVA, etc...all made by Oxyoke, and all the different brand names are referred to collectively as "bore butter".

It's beenanexcellent lube for me 15+ years...and Iuse it forapatch lubemost of the year until it gets dry low humidity in the winter then I switch to a liquid (Hoppes No9 PLUS).
