Default RE: Scent-Lok

I agree with most of the posters who are emphasizing preparation, playnig the wind, etc. That being said, I used to be a real skeptic of Scent Lok. It seemed to be too expensive, to gimicky, and to me it just didn't make sense that it would make any difference.

But about four years ago I decided to try it. Found some on sale at Bass Pro Shop and picked it up. The next Fall, I tried it out. What a surprise! Deer walking within a few FEET of me, coming in downwind from me, never being spooked, and calmly eating. What really convinced me that it can make a difference was a nice 9-pt coming within 11 yards...also came in downwind from me...it also had no idea that I was there.

I am convinced it can make a difference, but it is no magic bullet. You still need to take a shower, watch the wind as best you can, and also...your breath! I am always amazed at how many times I see people hunting who took a shower, put on scent eliminating spray, put on their Scent Lok, and then fail to do something simple like brushing their teeth! Heck, if I can smell the bad breath...imagine the deer!
