Been using a gps for a while and they are a great tool, keep the batteries fresh, it's a hungry tool. Had a problem in some thick fog once.

Hunt new places a lot and a map/topo/(large tracts) is a must. I just like to get them and have some I haven't even been to yet. Pretty cheap if you ask me.
