Hey Friend
I've noticed your from Alexandria. I used to live there. You had some awesome hunting up there. Have ya ever hunted Fort A.P. Hill??? It was 70 miles from Alexandria. I was a maintenance man for Southern Towers after I ended my tour of the Old Guard at the White House. I came down here in 81 to go to Bible college. Hunting is very tough around this area compared to VA. At least where I hunt at. I liev about 30 miles from Tampa. Florida has plenty of WMAs. If you are a bird watcher you can add at least 100 birds to your list. You will need to invest in some waterproof boots and preferrable ones where snakes can't get through. Thereis alot of pressure here on the white-tails so you will need to walk a ways to find them and your skills will need to be honed to perfection. Once you are at teh WMA s ask a lot of questions from the old timers. It may save ya alot of time. The hunting is somewhat different here in Florida.

Chuck,
You used to live in Alexandria and work at Southern Towers? That's cool! I live near Old Town, and the hunting here is still pretty good. I've never hunted AP Hill but mostly the GW Forest areas and some of the WMAs out past Warrenton. It's kind of ate up on the WMAs I've hunted, but I haven't been to all of them yet, but I think the Forest areas are better managed and have much more space to offer. Turkey season's long over so I've been spearfishing and will be at least through October.
I figured the hunting would be much different down there than it is up here. Is it an issue of human population and therefore public land access? That's my impression, and we've got some of that here, too, of course.
