Guns arrive at the store with an excess of oil and lubricant. This is not for shooting purposes, it is in case the guns sit on the shelf for months at a time. Wipe the excess oil off of the outside of the gun and then clean the bore with dry pads. Run the pads through until they come out clean. If the gun is boresighted, it will save you on ammunition. If you are deer hunting at average distances, 100-250 yards, sight the gun in to be 1 inch high at 100 yards.
