I think the Coral Snake can't actually strike you. It has a very small mouth and needs to find a place like the web of your hand between the thumb and forefinger to chew a spot. Seems like they don't have fangs like a rattlesnake. Biggest one I've ever seen was about 17", but you don't see many of them around here.
