No string loop failures for me. Len taught me to do it almost exactly how bigbulls does it.

The key is to not touch the melted end until it has cooled. If you try to flatten it, you will make it weaker since you push the hot strands apart. It's a bit of an art to getting good balls on the end, but if you buy the loop material in long lengths, it is easy enough to start over.
