both may be turkey pounders....or neither of them may be suitable.....when it comes to shotgunning patterning is the key to success....pattern the guns...the chokes just might be interchangeable...if so swap them gun to gun....try diffrent turkey loads in each combination.....start by getting regular loads hitting your point of aim...do this at 20-30yds....get it shooting where your aiming.....then get turkey targets with the brain and spine visible....start at 20yds with your turkey loads...most guys want atleast 4-8 hits in the brain and spine only to call it a usable turkey load...move out in 5yd increments till your pattern opens up and your no longer putting atleast 4-8 hits in the brain and spine...youll want to try diffrent shot sizes..shell legnths....brands...models etc.....it can get pricey....but right now...right after turkey season alot of places mark down turkey loads when they have alot left.....my stores never got anything in so i wont be shooting much! glad i got a good pattern.....one thing i find more important then pellet count is pattern density......i used to get 4-8 brain and spine hits...but that dont mean much when theres 300pellets in a shell and 250 dont even hit the 10x10 turkey target....switched chokes and was putting close to 200pellets in a nice uniform pattern at long ranges....a nice even dense pattern is nice.....it puts ALOT of hits in the basic head and neck of a turkey...and many brain and spine hits...as well as more damage to the turkey by artery hits...shock from the pellets etc.....it sounds like a chore but its not....you can buy 1 load and it may work terrific in both guns and chokes...then again it may not.....alot of guys find that 3 inch shells pattern better then 3 1/2 inch shells...but thats not ALWAYS true....one way to help split shell cost is get a few other turkey hunters you know......you all buy a box or 2 of turkey loads about the same price....diffrent shot size...brand...etc..then all switch a few shells and share....so youll buy a box or 2 of loads...but youll get to pattern a bunch of loads for the price of a box or 2....then you can buy what shot best and pattern in more indepth to find your max range etc......good luck
