these type radios are a funny creature. if your dealing with any hills or alot of obstruction it doesnt seem to matter if there 100 mile radios. ive bought quite a few of these over the years. motorola seems to be more pricey and a little more well built but for the difference in price i dont know if its worth it. i like midland alot. something to look for is if as they take regular batteries just in case you forgot to charge up the night before. most stores have a 30 day return so give it a try.
